ʻIolani School Community Science at the 2026 Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference
Our Paʻēpaʻē o Waikolu team was at this yearʻs Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference! Cory, Andi & Yvonne shared findings from our PW Viz Stream Survey Dashboard data deep dive and also hosted a discussion forum! Both sessions were well received and opened up some great conversations with other researchers, ʻāina practitioners, and conservation professionals about the challenges and opportunities presented when we intentionally involve students and the community in monitoring and adaptive management decisions that impact our beloved places.

2025 kula aʻo kālaiōewe
In collaboration with the Bishop Musuemʻs BIORETS Program, our fourth annual ʻĀina-Informatics Network Kula Aʻo Kālaiōewe Genomics Workshop brought together educators and researchers from across our paeʻ āina, California, and Texas. Over the course of three days, participants engaged in foundational molecular lab techniques, including genome sequencing, while exploring the intersection of biotechnology and ethics in service to our communities. A huge mahalo to Hawaii Dental Service for serving as our title sponsor and supporting us in inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators.
